Odisha Police retain FAO First Division League title

Odisha Police retained the title in the Sidhartha-FAO First Division Football League, defeating Jobra Durga Club 1-0 in the floodlit final at Barabati Stadium here today. Himanshu Majhi scored the all-important goal in the 70th minute to enable Odisha Police take home the top prize of Rs 1 lakh, while Jobra Durga settled with the runners-up prize of Rs 50,000.

Sports and Youth Service Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi gave away the trophy at the closing function. Odisha Olympic Association secretary Asirbad Behera, host Odisha Football Association president Debashish Samantaray and secretary Sanjay Behera were present on the occasion.

Thirteen veteran footballers of the state namely Dama Biswal, Abani Panda, Prasant Duttaray, Sk Halim, Abu Talim, Allaha Rakha Khan, Rama Raman Sarangi, Susant Duttaray, Baidyanath Mishra, Lingaraj Singh, Binod Boitai, Pramod Kumar Sahoo, Ratnakar Giri were felicitate on the occasion.

Seven international women footballers of the state, namely Lochona Munda, Supriya Routray, Sita Sharma, Alochana Senapati, Sasmita Malick, Suprava Samal, Pinky Bompal Mager along with India women football team coach Mohammad Saheed Jabbar, goalkeeping coach Ranjita Mohanty, Suman Prgyan Mohaptra and Runi Nayak were also felicitate on the occasion.
